Celebrating Pastor Rodney's 20 Years of Service

Jan 11, 2025

On January 11, the Beaverton Church celebrated Pastor Rodney’s 20th anniversary with a full house of over 300 attendees. The joyous occasion began with a heartfelt review of Pastor Rodney’s ministry, delivered by Leon Colburn, highlighting two decades of faithful service and dedication. Dr. John McVay, the Oregon Conference President, expressed gratitude with a word of thanks and offered a prayer of dedication over the family, underscoring the significance of the milestone. Jeff Holtsclaw performed special music, adding a meaningful and celebratory touch to the occasion.

As part of the celebration, Pastor Rodney revisited the first sermon he gave at Beaverton 20 years ago, taking the congregation on a reflective journey through his ministry’s beginnings. Sabbath School was followed by a picnic-themed potluck, where the festivities continued. Attendees enjoyed delicious veggie burgers and 300 freshly made pronto pups, with every table filled to capacity and additional seating spilling into the hall.

Photos from years gone by adorned the fellowship hall, sparking conversations and warm reflections. A special touch—“Payne Pills” (peanut M&Ms)—brought smiles to every table, creating a cheerful atmosphere.

The event’s success was thanks to the many individuals who worked together to honor Pastor Rodney and create a memorable day for all. The celebration was a beautiful testament to Pastor Rodney’s enduring impact and the love and gratitude of the Beaverton Church community.
